The parents of kindergarten and first grade Title I children joined Ms. Anderson and the students on December 10th for Snowy Winter Fantasies. This St. Thomas More parent-student workshop gave them all the experience of using visualizing to help understand fiction texts.

Kindergarten and 1st grade students and their parents practiced the following:

  • making a movie in their head to retell a story and then
  • writing their own winter fantasy.

Inspired by The Red Sled by Lita Judge, they created a story board together visualizing their story. Students finished writing the story in follow-up classes.
