The fourth grade St. Pius Title I reading students taught by Ms. Bender read a Guided Reading Program Short Read entitled Make Your Own Wrapping Paper. The short read was a how-to article that gave instructions for making homemade gift wrap. It was a great article to use to practice the comprehension skill of sequencing. After reading the how to make wrapping paper article and discussing it, Ms. Bender asked the students to write a letter to someone to tell that person the steps to decorate paper in which to wrap presents. As a group, the students decided that the letter should be written to Santa’s elves!

We are sure the elves will love making their own holiday paper to wrap the gifts.
