The first and second grade students in Ms. Dombey’s Title I class at Atlantic Shores Christian School are comparing and contrasting a fiction and a non-fiction story.
First graders did a fiction and non-fiction sort. They compared and contrasted two stories. The non-fiction one was “How to Read a Map” and the fiction story was “A Trip to the Park.”
They color coded for fiction, non-fiction, and both stories.

Second grade students also compared a fiction story, “The Bullfrog and the Bobcat,” and non-fiction story, “Don’t Walk, Run!” about Wilma Rudolph.
They filled in a graphic organizer detailing the text features in fiction and non-fiction. They answered questions about each story.
