Ms. Heischober’s students in fourth grade at Christ the King are learning to recognize and analyze Figurative Language. These are words authors use to create ideas, feelings, and mental images to make their writing more interesting. Poetry often uses figurative language. So in their study of figurative language and poetry, the students noted how poets use the following techniques:
Anchor charts help the students remember new terms and concepts such as onomatopoeia and personification.
