Literacy Bag Project

For the 2006-2007 school year, teachers have chosen specific authors and made take-home Literacy Bags that include books by that author and activities related to the books.

Students keep the Literacy Bags for a week at a time and read the books and complete the activities with their parents.

Students at St. Thomas More did an author study of Tomie dePaola and then designed the Literacy Bag based on their favorite book by dePaola, Pancakes for Breakfast.  In the photo below, Madelyn, Chloe and Karol show off the bag, the enclosed books and the bread that Chloe and her family made in response to the book Strega Nona's Magic Lesson by Tomie dePaola.
